What the FAQ

We’ve got answers. Whether it’s your first tattoo or you’re adding to the collection, we’re here to make the process smooth, safe, and stress-free. From deposits & designs to what not to do the night before (looking at you, baby guinness), this section covers everything you need to know before your tattoo appointment with Emma or Cory.

Please take the time to read through all of the questions and answers carefully. By paying your booking deposit, it’s understood that you’ve read and agreed to the studio’s terms and conditions, including our deposit and rescheduling policy.

💸 Deposits

⚠️ We only tattoo over 18s

No exceptions, no matter how cool your fake ID is or how many “but my mam said it’s fine” texts you send. You must bring valid photo ID on the day, or we won’t be able to go ahead, and yes, that means your deposit will be lost too.

📝 Do I need to pay a deposit to book an appointment?

Yes, all appointments require a deposit to secure your spot. Without it, your appointment isn’t confirmed. This helps us manage our time and ensures that everyone who books is serious about showing up.

💵 What happens to my deposit?

Your deposit will be taken off the final cost of your tattoo on the day.

❌ Are deposits refundable?

No, all deposits are non-refundable.
We totally get that life happens, but when you book a slot (whether it’s an hour or a full session) your artist sets that time aside just for you. If you cancel or don’t show up with short notice, it’s usually too late to offer that spot to someone else, which means lost time and lost income. Deposits help make sure everyone's time is respected, yours and your artist’s.

⏰ Can I reschedule my appointment without losing my deposit?

Absolutely! As long as you give us at least 48 hours' notice.
If you cancel or reschedule with less than 48 hours' notice, your deposit will be forfeited, and a new one will be required for a new booking.

🖊️ What’s a drawing deposit?

For custom designs, your artist may request a separate drawing deposit. This covers their time and creative work, especially to protect against situations where designs are taken elsewhere.
It’s different from your booking deposit and is non-refundable.

🎨 Designs

📨 When will I see my design?

We aim to send over your design at least 24 hours before your appointment.

🔄 Can I make changes to the design?

Small tweaks are totally fine. But if you want to completely change the design on the day, your artist might:

  • Add extra charges (because more time/work is needed), or

  • Refuse the tattoo (especially if there’s no time between bookings).

We want to make sure every piece is done right, no rush jobs.

🧴 Before Your Appointment

🗣️ What should I tell my artist in advance?

If we’re tattooing over an area with any of the following, please let us know when booking:

  • Scars

  • Moles

  • Previous tattoos

  • Sunburn

  • Laser removal

  • Rashes, cuts, or bruises

These can affect whether it’s safe to tattoo that area.

🧼 What should I do to prep my skin?

  • Shower and clean your skin within 24 hours of your appointment.

  • Gently exfoliate a few days before to remove dead skin (clean skin = cleaner tattoo).

  • Avoid sun exposure and definitely avoid getting sunburned.

🚫 Can I get tattooed if I have sunburn?

No, we will not tattoo over sunburned skin. Here’s why:

  • The skin is already damaged

  • It’ll hurt much more

  • It may heal poorly or become infected

  • Your tattoo may not look as good

If you get sunburned before your appointment, let us know so we can reschedule.

🚫 Can I drink alcohol before my appointment?

We strongly advise no alcohol for 24 hours before getting tattooed.
It thins your blood, makes healing harder, and increases the risk of infection. If you arrive under the influence, we will refuse service, and your deposit will be lost.

🥪 What should I eat/drink beforehand?

Eat a solid meal (breakfast or lunch) and stay hydrated. It helps your body handle the tattoo session and makes the whole experience way more manageable.
